Good morning all,

 

It has been rainy and cloudy till early this morning but now

it is being changed to clean skies this morning here in Tokyo.

Morning's temparature is about 13 degree and max will be about

19 degrees during daytime.

Here is today's english!

" I'm exhausted." " I beg your pardon?" " I'm tired,

so let's call it a day." " No way! We must not put off till

tomorrow what we can do today"

 

" 난 기진맥진야 " " 뭐라고 ? " " 난 너무 피곤해, 그러니까

오늘은 일은 그만합시다." " 절대 안돼! 오늘 할수 있는것은

내일로 미루면 안돼"

( 오늘일을 내일로 미루지 말라! 많이 들어보셨죠!)

 

Words,Phrases & Patterns

> exhausted  ; 기진맥진한, 아주 피곤한

> I beg your pardon? ; = Excused me? 뭐라고요? ( 다시한번 말씀해 주실래요? )
> call it a day ; 하루 일을 끝내다. 하루 일을 그만하는 걸로 하다

> No way ; 절대안돼!

 

여기서 put ...off 는 미루다, 연기하다  란 뜻입니다.

postpone 하고 같은뜻으로 둘 중 아무거나 써도 됩니다.

목적어로는 명사나 동명사가 온다고 문법책에서 많이

보셨죠!

 

우리말로 " 미루다 ", " 연기하다 "라고 말하고 싶을때는, 

put off, postpone 을 쓰세요. 

 

예를들어;

a. The meeting has been postponed till next Sunday

 (미팅이 다음주 일요일까지 연기되었다)

b. put off an appointment ( 약속을 연기하다)

c. put off going to the dentist.(치과에 가는걸 미루다)
