It is sunny morning but a bit chilly wind make me feel colder than yesterday.

Here is today's english!

" I have a hangover. My head is pounding. At the reunion

last night, I had such a good time that I ended up drinking

more than I should."

 

"숙취로 머리가 퉁퉁거려. 어젯밤 동창회에서 아주 즐거운

시간을 되어서 마셔야 할 (량)보다 더 마셨어"

( 숙취를 I have hangover 라고 합니다 )

> have a good time ; 즐거운 시간을 보내다

> end up ...ing ; 결국 ....하는것이 되다

 

여기서 more than 의 than 은 비교급에서 비교의 대상을

나타내고 전치사로도 접속사로도 쓰입니다.

참고로 as 도 비교의 대상 을 나타내고 전치사로도,

접속사로도 쓰입니다. ...than 는 ..보다 더 ..한 비교이고,

as....as 는 ..와 같은 정도의 동급을 나타냅니다.

예를들어,

He is taller than I ( am tall ) 는 그가 나보다 키가 더 큰것이고,

He is as tall as I ( am tall ) 는 그와 나의 키가 같은것이고,

이때의 than, as 는 접속사 ( than, as 뒤가 "me" 가 아니고 "I"

이기 때문에). 전치사로 쓰일때는 뒤에 목적격 대명사가 옴.

He is taller than me

He is as tall as me

 

접속사로 쓰일때는, 뒤에서 반복되는 것은 보통 생략됩니다.

He is taller than I ( am tall 이 생략됨)

 

우리말로, ..보다 더 ...하다 라는 비교급을 쓰고 싶을때는 비교급 than

을 쓰시고, ....와 같은 정도.....의 동급을 나타내고 싶을때는

as.....as 를 써보세요.

 

예를들어;

(a)

(전치사) He is taller than me

(접속사) He is taller than I ( am )

 

(b)

(전치사) He is about as tall as me

(접속사) He is about as tall as I ( am )

 

(c)

(전치사) He works harder than us

(접속사) He works harder than we ( work )
