Seq 360 ( unit 16  It 을 사용한 표현들 ) : lesson 27 < It seems as if ....의 표현 >

 

오늘은 ' It .... ' 을 사용하는 표현중에서, 우리말로 ' ....인 듯하다, ..인 것 같다, ..하는 것 같다'

라고 뭔가의 양태/상태/모양세를 나타내는 다음의 표현들을 이해 해서 써 먹읍시다.

 

It seems as if...   (..인 것 같다, ...하는 것 같다)

It looks as if .....  ( ...인 것 같다, ....하는 것 같다)

It sounds as if ..  (...인 것 같다, ...하는 것 같다 )

 

It sounds as if there is somebody at the door. ( 문에 누군가 있는 것 같다 )

= It sounds as though there is somebody at the door.

= It sounds like there is somebody at thr door.

= It sounds that there is sobody at the door.

 

예문>

 

It seems as if my work associates refrained from

criticizing me on account of my being within hearing distance.

 

동료들은, 내가 들리는 거리에 있다는 이유로 나에 대한 비판을 삼가

하는 것 같았다.

 

단어>

associate ; (명) 동료, 친한 사이

refrain  ; (동) (공식적) 삼가하다, 자제하다 

refrain from ; (동) ..삼가하다, 억제하다

criticizet ; (동) ...를 비판하다, ..를 비평하다

on account of ; ...가 이유 (원인)으로 ( = because of...)

within....distance ; (부) ...한 거리에 ( within walking distance  걸어갈 수 잇는 거리에 )

 

설명> 이들 표현은 숙어처럼 쓰이는 관용표현으로, as if ......는 as though ....로 바꿔써도 되고,

that 이나 like 로 바꿔써도 됩니다. 그리고, as if ....의 표현은 가정법이 아니므로, 직설법으로 표현합니다.

 

It seems as if [as though, that, like ].....

It looks as if [ as though, that, like ]....

It sounds as if [ as though, that, like ]....
