Good morning all,

 

It is such a beautiful and clouldless blue skies this

morning here in Tokyo. Morning lows of 3.9 degrees

and day time highs of 12 degrees.

Today is December 1st Monday. Let start this week

with vigor. 

Here is today's english!

He proclaimed, " Terrorism is a great threat to world

peace. it is time that the international community cooperated

in eliminating it once and for all."

 

그는 선언했다. " 테러는 세계평화에 큰 위협입니다.

이제는 국제사회가 이것을 끝으로 테러를 근절하는데

협력 해야 할 때입니다."

( 지난주 인도에서 발생한 국제테러! )

 

Words,Phrases & Patterns

> proclaim ; ...라고 선언하다.발표하다.

> terrorism ; 테러행위, terrorist 테러리스트
> eliminate ; 제거하다, 없애다, 근절하다

> once and for all ; 이것을 끝으로,(이번을 마지막으로)

> cooperate ; 협력하다
 

여기서 it is time that .....동사과거형 는 때를 나타내는 it

의 관용표현의 하나로, [ 이제는 ....하지않으면 안될때 이다 ]

라는 뜻입니다. 때를 나타내는 it 의 관용표현이나 이대로

외우시면 됩니다. that은 자주 생략되고, 동사가 과거형인것은,

현재 그래야하는데, 그렇지않음음을 나타내기위해서 가정법

과거형을 쓰기 때문인데, 회화에서는 그냥 현재형을 쓰기도

합니다.

 

It is time for.... to 동사

it is time that S V (과거형) 의 두 형태로 씁니다.

 

우리말로;

이제는 ...할 (하지 않으면 안될) 때이다  를 나타내고 싶을때는 

이 표현을 써보세요.

 

예를들어;

(a) It is time for me to start studing English

(이제 내가 영어공부를 시작해야 할 때이다)

(b) It is time (that) you start(started) thinkg about settling down

(이제는 정착을 생각해야 할때이네)

(c) It is high time that you learned to tell right from wrong

(이제는 옳고 그름을 분별할 줄 알아야 할때이네 )
