This is the last one for this year and it will be resumed from

2009/Jan/5th Monday again!

 

So strong winds through the night and it has brought the

first snows in Osaka but not in Tokyo yet. It is 4.5 degrees 

this morning and during the daytime it will be about 7 degrees

here in Tokyo.

이 숙제 좀 도와주시겠습니까? 전혀 모르겠어요.

아무리 읽어봐도, 이 단락이 납득이 안되요!

 

Words,Phrases & Patterns

> I wonder if you could/would ; ...좀 해 주시겠습니까?

> help A with B ; A(사람)의B(작업)을 도와주다

> homework ; 숙제

> stuck ; (구어적)(이해가 안되서, 해결책이 없어서) 꽉 막힌

여기서 I wonder if you could help me....도 상대에게 부탁/의뢰

할때 가정법을 써서 아주 정중하게 표현하는 방법입니다.

I wonder if .... 를 상대에게 정중하게 부탁하는 표현으로 쓸때는

Could/Would you....를 If 절안에 넣어서 씁니다.

 

I wonder If you could....

I wonder If you would........

 

I wonder If ~~ 를 상대에게 부탁하는 표현이 않인경우는 보통

직설법으로 많이 쓰는데, 예를들어,

" I wonder If this painting is a genuine Van Gogh? ".

"이 그림이 진짜 반고의 것인지 궁금하다" 는것으로

if절안이 가정법이 아니고, 상대에게 부탁하는 표현도 아닙니다.

 

우리말로;

....좀 해 주시겠습니까? 라고 표현하고 싶을때는 다음 표현을

써 보세요.

 

I wonder if you could.......

I wonder if you would......

 

참고로, Could you....가 Would you.....보다 더 정중한 표현으로

더 자주 쓰입니다.

 

예를들어;

 

(a) Can you help me with my homework?

(b) Will you help me with my homework?

 

(c) Could you please help me with my homework?

(d) Would you please help me with my homework?

 

(e) I would be grateful if you could help me with my homework

(f) I would appreciate if you could help me with my homework

 

(g) I wonder if you could help me with my homework?

(h) I wonder if you would help me with my homework?
