[ 오늘은 " 거의 " 라는 정도(程度)를 나타내는 부사 almost 의 part 2 입니다 ]
[ 오늘은 다음 3가지를 공부합니다 ]
1. Almost all ( 거의 모든..) = most ( 대부분의....)
2. almost never [ no..., nothing, nobody, nowhere ] ; 거의....않다
3. almost not..... 는 안쓰고, hardly [ scarcely...] 를 씀
Point 1 : 우리말로 "거의 모든 " 을 영어로 almost all....로 표현 하는데,
이것은 " 대부분의...." 의 뜻인 형용사 most 로도 표현 가능합니다.
1. 거의 모든 ( almost all...) = 대부분의 ( most....)
Almost all Japanese = Most Japanese ; ( 거의 모든 일본사람 ) = ( 대부분의 일본사람 )
예문1; Almost all Japanese like to eat rice = Most Japanese like to eat rice
참고1; 이때의 most 는 형용사로 "대부분의...." 의 뜻입니다.
참고2; almost all..., most... ; 뒤에 복수 명사가 오고, 복수취급합니다.
Point 2 : Almost all of the..... 와 most of the.... 의 표현도 많이 쓰입니다.
이때는 대명사적으로 쓰인 경우로, 예를들어,
most students 는 " 대부분의 학생 ", most가 형용사로 쓰인 것이고,
most of the students 는 " 학생들 대부분 " 으로 most가 대명사로 쓰인 것입니다.
2. Almost all of the Japanese = Most of the Japanese ; ( 일본사람 거의 모두 = 일본사람 대부분 )
예문2; Almost all of the Japanese like to eat rice = Most of the Japanese like to eat rice.
참고1 ; all of A, most of A...의 표현에서 A 에는 항상 the 붙여서 특정, 한정된 것임을 나타냅니다.
참고2 ; all of A, most of A...의 표현에서 A가 복수형 목적격 인칭대명사 (you, them) 이면, 물론
the 는 필요없죠.
Point 3 : almost never [ no...., nothing, nobody, nowhere ] ; 거의..... 않다
almost never [ no..., nothing, nobody, nowhere ] 로 " 거의 ...않다 "
예문3; It almost never rains here. ( 이곳에는 거의 비가 오지 않는다 )
Point 4 : almost 는 not 과 함께 안쓰이고, hardly..., scarcely 로 "거의....않다"를 나타냄
예문4; He was hardly [ scarcely ] ready.
[ 여러분, 우리말로," 거의 모든..." 은 영어로 Almost all....로 형용사 용법으로 표현하고,
" 거의 모두가 " 는 영어로 " Almost all of the......" 로 대명사 용법으로 표현하는데, 이것은
" most....(대부분의....)", "most of the ....(....의 대부분)" 으로도 표현 가능함을 기억하세요]

6. There is almost no water in this bottle.
7. It almost never rain here.
8. Almost no one believed him.
= hardly anyone believed him.
[ not almost 는 안쓰고, hardly, scarcely.... 로 " 거의 ....않다 " 를 나타냄 ]
9. He was hardly [ scarcely ] ready. ( 그는 준비가 거의 돼있지 않았다 )
10. He knows hardly [ scarcely ] anything about it.
[ 내일은 hardly, scarcely, rarely, seldom 에 대해서 공부합시다 ]
