'서로를 쳐다보다' 를 영어로 하면? - 8/11(목)

어제 배운 표현이;

 

They like each other. 그들은 서로 좋아한다.

They like each other.

They like each other.

 

오늘의 영어 한마디

( each other 와 themselves)

 

서로를 쳐다보다 : They looked at each other.

 

-> 여러분, 다음 문장의 차이를 한번 이해해 보실 래요?

 

  Ed and Sue looked at each other.  Ed 와 Sue는 서로를 쳐다보았다.
 

  Ed and Sue looked at themselves. Ed와 Sue는 자기(자신)을 쳐다보았다 (각자 거울을 보면서)

 

 위 문장에서 looked at each other 는 서로를 보는 것. 그래서,

 

  Ed looked at Sue / Sue looked at Ed.

 

 반면에, Ed and Sue looked at themselves. 는 각자 자기 자신을 보는 것 (각자 거울을 보면서)

 

 Ed looked at Ed / Sue looked at Sue.

 

 ( Kim knows Amy, Amy knows Kim )
