How chilly air it is! this morning here in Tokyo.

It is clean and blue sky this morning but colder than

yesterday with morning lows of 7.6 degrees and daytime

highs of 12 degrees. 

 

Here is today's english!

"All right. If necessary, I'll change the date."

( I would like you to ..; ...해 주세요! )

 

" 가능하시면, 여기 오시는걸 좀 연기해 주시겠습니까.

지금, 제 사무실이 엉망이거든요". "예, 필요하면, 날짜를

변경하겠습니다."

 

Words,Phrases & Patterns

> would like ...to 동사 ; ..해 주시겠습니까! 

> postpone ; 연기하다
> right now ; 현재

> state ; 상태

> chaos ; 대혼란,( 천지창조 신화에서 하늘과 땅이 아직

가라지지 않아 대혼란했던 상황을 일컷는 말 ) 카오스.

> if necessary ; 필요하면
 

여기서 if possible, if necessary  는 원래 if ( it is ) possible,

If ( it is ) necessary 로 if 부사절에서 주어와 동사가 생략된것입니다.

 

( if, when, whenever, where, wherever ) + possible, necessary

보통 it is 를 생략해서 관용적으로 쓰니까, 아래 관용표현을 그래도

쓰시면 됩니다.

 

[ possible ]

If possible ( 가능하면 )

when possible ( 가능한때는 )

whenever possible ( 가능한때는 언제든지 )

where possible ( 가능한 상황에서 )

wherever possible ( 가능한 상황에서는 언제든지 )

 

[ necessary ]

If necessary ( 필요하면 )

when necessary ( 필요할때는 )

whenever necessary ( 필요할때는 언제든지 )

where necessary ( 필요한 상황에서 )

wherever necessary ( 필요한 상황에서는 언제든지 )

 

우리말로;

...가능하면, 필요하면 이라고 말하고 싶을때는 if possible,

if necessary......

 

예를들어; 

(a) Use an artificial sweetener whenever possible.

( 가능한한 언제든지 인공감미료를 쓰세요 )

(b) Help must be given where necessary.

( 도움이라는것은 필요한 상황에서 행해져야하는것 )
