It is a bit cloudy but good weather this morning here in Tokyo.
Nowadays it is not so cold with the temperature of 10 degrees
this morning and about 12 degrees during daytime.

Seq 54 ( unit 4 ) : lessons 3 불가산명사 세는법
1. My friend gave me two english books for my english study.
2. My friend gave me a piece of advice about purchasing land.
3. My friend gave me two pieces of advice about how to study english.
4. Could we have more cups of coffee here, please?
Words,Phrases & Patterns
> give A to B ; A(사람)에게 B(물건)을 주다. 4형식 동사. (A를 간접목적어, B를 직접목적어).
> purchase ; (공식적) 구입하다. 사다buy 보다 공식적으로, 회사의 구매부서에서 많이 씀.
보통명사는 셀수있는 가산명사이니까 단수에 a,an 을 붙이고,
복수는 -s를 붙여서 나타내고, 하나, 둘, 셋 셀때는 one, two, three를 붙여서 세면되는데,
물질명사(water, milk 등)와 추상명사(advice, love...등 무형의것)는 셀수없는 불가산명사
로 one, two,three를 바로 붙여서 셀 수 없습니다.
예를들어, 추상명사 advice 는 불가산명사로;
an advice, advices, two advices, three advices 라고 표현못합니다.
( 단수를 나타내는 an 못 붙이고, 복수를 나타내는 -s 못붙이고, two, three 로 못셈)
그러면, "하나의 충고" " 두개의 충고", " 물 한잔", "커피 두잔" 은 어떻게 표현하면 좋을까요?
다음과 같이 셉니다.
1. 추상명사
> a piece of advice,
> two pieces of advice ( 이때, 두개라도 뒤의 advice에 -s 붙여서 advices로 하면 안됨)
2. 물질명사
- tea, milk, wine,water는 액체로, 용기에 담아서 써야하니까, 용기 이름을 씁니다.
> a cup of tea
> a glass of milk ; two glasses of milk
> a bottle of wine ; two bottles of wine
> two cups of tea (뒤의 tea 를 teas로 안함)
> two glasses of milk (뒤의 milk를 milks 로 안함)
> two bottles of wine (뒤의 wine를 wines 로 안함)
- bread 빵, cheese 치즈는 덩어리로 칼로 잘라서 한조각, 두조각으로 표현
> a slice of bread
> a slice of cheese
- paper 도 물질명사로 한장으로 나타냄
> a piece of paper
> a sheet of paper
- furniture(가구), baggage(짐) 불가산명사의 집합명사라고 합니다.
> a piece of furniture
> two pieces of baggage
예문에서;
1번 book는 가산명사이고, 복수이니까 two books.
2,3번 advice는 추상명사로 a piece of advice, two pieces of advice.
4번 coffee는 물질명사(불가산명사) more cups of coffee
주의; more cups of coffee 에서 coffee 를 coffees로 안함.
우리말로; 영어문장보실때, 이제 이런표현이 눈에 들어오면 이해가 될 겁니다!
예를들어;
(a) Can I have a cup of coffee please?
(b) Help me with my two pieces of baggage, it is too heavy!
